“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” - John 8:12
If you're walking in darkness, God wants you to turn from the darkness and walk in the light - and when you walk in the light of Jesus, where is the darkness?
It's behind you.
Imagine this:
You are drowning in the middle of an ocean, drowning and desperately gasping for air. A boat comes by and as the boat is coming by, the people on the boat say "We're going to come by some time today, we'll rescue you at some time today". If you were drowning in that moment, do you need that boat today, or do you need that boat now? Do you need someone to rescue you now?
NOW IS THE TIME OF SALVATION
We want people to walk in the light. But they will not repent unless we preach the light of Jesus Christ, the glorious Gospel of Salvation.
It is not just the Evangelist who evangelises, but it's the whole body of Christ. The great commissioning is to make disciples of all nations. It's important for us to speak out. It says in the bible that your testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. It is important to testify. It is so important to seek the word of the Lord over people's lives.
Sometimes we forget that the power is in the Gospel. The power is in the actual Gospel!
The bible says that
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." - 1 Corinthians 1:18
As believers, we need to be reminded of how important our proclamation is.
